Does anybody have any information about an ex landlord of the 'Braichy' Thomas Jenkins? All I have on this person is that his daughter Ruth, married Azariah Thomas in about 1921. All information gratefully received.

On Saturday the 10th April 1897 there was a large fight in the tap-room of the Braichycymmer Hotel. The police attended immediately (the police station was next door) and the Landlord, William Jenkins was found to be drunk in charge of his own pub. His wife, "Hetty" appeared from upstairs and berated him severely in front of the whole pub. For this he was fined £4 with 8 shillings costs. He paid the fine, in cash, seven days later on Saturday 17th April at the police station.
On another occasion he was fined for serving beer from "Sleevers". (Umeasured glasses.)
The Licencees of nearly all of the other pubs, especially the Old Tavern in Cwm Garw village are regular offenders for one reason or another.
ALSO: A lady by the name of Gwenllian Jenkins also kept the Braichy in the early part of the 20th century. She married my Great Uncle, Herbert Jones. Gwenllian originally hailed from Abercynon where her family kept the Navigation Hotel.

There is a 1911 census record of a Ruth Jenkins b. c 1902 living with parents Thomas (b.Tylagwyn)and Mary (b. Merthyr) living at 7 Pant Street, Pantygog. This is the only record I can find of a Ruth with father Thomas in the district around that time. What info. is required, with a common name like Jenkins it is difficult to trace further back but that may not be what the enquirer wants?. If more recent info. is required the only way is to check on FreeBMD.org for marriage/births/deaths or use a website like Ancestry.co.uk or Find My Past which may help with WW1 records and maybe some others, these will only give limited info. but may help a bit. Happy to help if I can but need a bit more to work with.
