Hello, We have an 'Australian' family looking for information about.
William Bowen, who was born about 1851 in Pontycymmer?
Son of Thomas Bowen and Ann (nee Waters).
William married Elizabeth Cousins.
Their son was Joseph J. Bowen, died 9/4/1918 in the Great War.
Did anyone out there get a subscription to Ancestry or Find my past for Christmas? Please help if you can

Hi, I have a full Ancestry membership and would be happy to help. I would need to know where the above info. came from to help to work backwards.
Where did the info. of William being born in Pontycymmer come from and the approx. date of birth? Where did the marriage of William to Elizabeth Cousins come from (the only marriage matching those two names listed on FreeBMD is in 1840 in Haverfordwest 11 years before William was born???)
If any of this info. came from census records or birth/marriage/death records can I have the details of these to try to help further.

Hello Mags, Thank you for the offer. At the moment I am waiting from Australia to take this further. The only details I have are: William Bowen born about 1851? in Pontycymer? He was a member of the Garw Male Voice Society. He married an Elizabeth Cousins. Their son was Joseph J. Bowen. R.5283. K.R.R.C. Who was killed at the Somme on 25/7/1916. P.o.b Amroth. P.o.r. P/cymmer. P.o.e. Bridgend.
Williams father was Thomas Bowen, mother Ann (nee) Waters.
Because the enquiry came in via the heritage website there was no sender address, I have contacted her via the enquiry but no answer yet. When I get something I will be back in touch. Nice to `speak`to you anyway, regards gerald

Just an observation. It is unlikely that he was born in Pontycymer in the year stated unless he was from a farming family. Pontycymer, as we know it really started in 1876 with the first street being built as Milk Row (Railway Terrace) at that time.

Hello, In case you're still looking for the marriage details for William Bowen and Elizabeth Cousins - they were married 10 Oct 1872 in St. Elidyr Church, Amroth, Pembrokeshire. Elizabeth Cousins is a 2nd cousin 3x removed to me. I'm researching the Cousins side of my family. William Bowen was born in Redberth, Pembrokeshire.
Hope this helps.
Regards Helen
