Hi Yesterday we found a very damaged snuff box in our field dedicated to Edward Shepherd Iron Acton Gloucestershire a "Present from Gawr Valley" 1891. It looks to have a goat or sheep engraved within the date as well. Would anyone have any idea of what the connection could have been to Iron Acton? We are on the edge of the Bristol Coal Field and an Edward Shepherd was a coal hewer on the 1901 census living here. His family farmed from our house so it is likely it was lost during a visit to them. Many thanks Tim Grubb Iron Acton Attachments:

Hello Tgrubb. What a fabulous find. The Garw valley coalmines drew people from all over the country? The Bristol area was one of them. I will try and find out more about the names to seek a connection.

Hello. Is, or, was your 'land' Chelwood Farm? I have a T.Shepherd's death at this place in 1896, and a mourning cousin E. Shepherd?
