For a cousin living in the USA I am trying to locate any old photos of the Mackworth Arms, in Bettws. His branch kept the Inn for 50 years up until about 1900. If any one can help me find one or let me have a photocopy I would be grateful. I can't see one on the GVHS gallery. Thank you in anticipation Colin

Sorry Colin but we do not have a photo of The Mackworth at all, I tried to put together some 'Pub' info for the Bettws & Bryngarw exhibitions recently but no luck. The Mackworth building is still there now a house conversion, the same for the Coach & Horses Inn just up the road.

Thanks Gerald.
I knew of the Oddfellows Arms in Bettws, but not the Coach & Horses. I have been told of another pub somewhere along the lane in the direction of Shwt but the name could not be remembered. Somewhere there was an address in Bettws called the New Inn but I am unsure where in relation to the village centre it was. Where, please, was the Coach & Horses?

I will look the Coach& horses up for you Colin. There was another pub in the area I believe called The Garw Junction Inn? But I think that was more Moelgilau way?
The Mackworth Hotel was/is on Google earth maps, at 51.568637,-3.589408. And the Coach and Horses Inn was/is at 51.570475,-3.590528. Regards Gerald
