Hi, My Grandad Malgwyn Jenkins was from Blaengaew. He left the area married and lived in Birmingham. I have recently started researching the family. I wondered if anyone recognised any of these names and addresses and might have any further information.
Malgwyn Lewis Jenkins (mal) was born on 20 September 1916 at 30 Mount Pleasant Blaengaew. Son of William Henry Jenkins and Florence Anne Jenkins. I know that he worked in the colliery for a time before he moved.
William Henry Jenkins and Florence Anne Selwood were married on 8 February 1915 at a registry office. They had 5 children. William, Malgwyn Lewis (mal), Benjamin James (jim), Raymond Rufus (ray) and Ivy. The family moved to 23 Herbert street at some point and remained there. I have had the full family tree going down from Mals siblings from my dad’s cousins some of whom live in Blaengaew.
William Henry lived at 6 Marian street prior to Marrying. He was born 4 October 1887 in Fishguard and died 28 March 1971 in Bridgend hospital. His father was Thomas Jenkins both Thomas and William worked as colliery banksmen.
Florence Anne Selwood lived at 141 Oxford street Pontycymmer priory to Marrying. She died 24 September 1965 at 23 Herbert street. Florence’s father was William Selwood had died before she got married. I only have 1893 for her year of birth and searching birth indexes the only record I can find is registered in Chipping Sudbury Gloucestershire, which could be correct as my dad thinks his grandma was English.
Any information would be greatfully recived
Lucy
