Hello.
I am involved in researching my mothers family. Their names were Phillips and my great Grandfather Howell Phillips, his wife Mary and 9 of their children moved to Pontycymer, from Newchurch, Carmarthenshire sometime between the 1871 and the 1881 census.My great uncle Sem and his cousin Emlyn lived in Glannant House, Pontycymer until they both died in 1968. I have always understood that Emlyn was the first person in the Garw valley to own a car.
My Grandmother Mary Phillips of 217 Oxford St married John Jones of 90 Oxford St at the Registery Office on the 6th of September 1906 and my Mother Dinah Llewela Jones was born the following year. Some time between her birth and the 1911 census they moved to Bridgend.
