My father's Garw family are the Moore family of Llangeinor. William and Fanny Moore moved there in the 1880's and had three boys born there - Bertrum [1887], Charles [1893] and Arthur [1896]. Bertrum married Lillian and had a son William John [1910] who was a boxer and a rugby player, playing once for Wales. Charles died in WW1 on 18th April 1916. Arthur married Rosina Roberts and had 4 sons; Brinley [known as Bryn], Leonard [who died aged 8 years], Vernon and Robert [Bob]. Arthur was Chairman of the Con Club in Pontycymmer for over 25 years and Rosina [Rose] worked in the surgery in Llangeinor for years. Bryn and Vernon worked for MacAllisters - Bryn in particular had many, many customers throughout the Garw valley.
In their later years Arthur and Rose lived in Rose Cottage, while Vernon, wife Margaret [who also worked in the surgery for many years] and their two sons David and Philip lived next door, having moved there after Bob, his wife Margaret and daughter Ann moved to Birmingham. Bryn, wife Edith and children Andrew and twins Jane and Janner lived in Bettws until they moved to Bridgend in the early 1960's.
In 1911 Fanny Moore kept a sweet shop in Green Meadow Terrace. She was a widow by then, William having died in 1910. They also lived for a time in Ffrwd Villas and there was a fire there - I have the photograph. Again this looks like the early part of the 20th Century but I don't know the date.
