I am trting to find some relatives that corresponded with my great grandparents and uncles after the family came to Australia in 1911.
The letters are from Jerhro and Edith Davies who lived at 6 Waunbant, Pontycymmer. The last letter i can find was in 1969 and they were still living there.
They had a son John married to Margaret. With 2 grandsons Stephen and Jonathon.
I believe Jethros father was John Illtyd Davies and his mother Mary Richards. Mary's mother was known as Nurse Richards and was on the Board of Guardians.
The letters are quite lovely and show that even as late as 1979 they were corresponding and exchanging gifts. My great uncle David died in 1983 and i can not find further coresspondance after that.
My great grandparents where Daivd (Dai) Bagnell and Mary (Bessie) Elizaberh Fitzgerald. They also lived at Waunbant. My gg grandparents were David Fitzgerald (Irish born) and Elizabeth Bevan. All four died in Adelaide South Australia after moving there from Kalgoorlie Western Australia.
The letter contain references to my uncle sending gifts of boomerangs and kangaroo ornaments as christmas gifts and Jethro would send my family photos and newspapers of the Garw Valley.
They also have many photos and letters sent to them from a cousin Blodwen Evans who married Fred Cole and lived in Mountain Ash. I am sure Blodwen is also related to Jethro and Edith via the Richards family and Jethro refers to them in one of his letters.
I am hoping to make contact with this family in the hope that they may also have kept letters and photos from the family.
