Hello, I have a significant 20 year gap in census records for my paternal great grandparents. I know that Margaret Kinsey died at 25 Pant Street, Pontycym(m)er, Llangeinor in March 1892. I have searched Llangeinor and Bettws records for the street in both 1881 and 1891 censuses, but have not been able to find it, although I know it existed in 1892. As the surname is often transcribed incorrectly in records and does not appear in searches of these two censuses, I am searching by street/village, page by page. Can anyone help? I'd be grateful for the ED, piece and folio numbers of any streets in Pontycymer in 1881 or 1891. Many thanks. R

Hello Rosmond, I am not sure if we have that information, but maybe one of our subscribers can help. I did a quick check and found that the Kinseys were a very musical family with the most of them being in the Ogmore Valley, although there were some in the Llynfi valley.

I know that Pant Street was built in two stages quite a time gap apart from each other. I believe that the higher end part was built later. My family owned number 30 for 94 years and many Jones's were born there, including my father. Hope this might help.

Allowing for spelling variations, the other problem is that the system does not always read the census correctly. You could try substituting an R for the K in Kinsey.
I was unable to find the Kinsey family in Pant Street although I found my relatives. In 1891 I did find two households living in Gwendoline Street, Blaengarw.
RG12/4452 folio 118 page 43 ED9 18 Gwendoline St. James Kinsey and family.
RG12/4452 folio 118 page 44 22 Gwendoline St. Ann and John Kinsey mother-in-law and brother-in-law to the head.
I don't know if this helps.
One thing I have noticed is that some families are not to be found at all during a census, yet they were living in the same district the census before and the census after! Goodness knows why they are not found in between.

Sorry, it was in 1901 I found my family in Pant Street not 1891. Will continue looking. Colin

I've found 25 Pant Street on the 1891 census, it is occupied by William Evan age 40 and his family. I found it on Ancestry by clicking on a nearby census in my tree and then checked the streets listed on page 1 of the set, Pant Street is listed on "Glamorgan - Llangeinor -District 9", no.25 is on page20. Hope this is of some help.
