Regarding Luther the author of Garw Gleanings under the pen name of Lloffwr Arall.
Luther was the son of Ann nee Rolfe whose elder sister Sarah nee Rolfe was my 2x great grandmother. This made Luther and my great grandfather Robert Rolfe Llewellyn first cousins. Robert died aged only 25 in Llansamlet and his two daughters came to Blaengarw to live with his parents David & Sarah (Rolfe) Llewellyn in Pretoria Street. Their names were Sarah Ann (Mrs William Hibbert) newsagents opposite the school in King Edward Street, and Hannah (Mrs Tom Henry Davies) Blaengarw & Llangeinor, my paternal grandparents.
Luther married Catherine Thomas in the 1st quarter of 1924. She was the daughter of William & Catherine Thomas, butcher, Oxford Street. William was 2nd cousin to my maternal grandfather Jenkin Llewellyn Thomas late of Maes-y-Deri. This makes me doubly related to any family Luther & Catherine may have had.
As to my mentioning under the "Comments" on the GVHS main page, about Mr Huw Edwards and the program from Salem Baptist, Llangennech. Many of the Rolfe family and their descendants were members of, and are buried in Salem. So the Garw/Llanelli link goes full circle!

Lovely stuff Colin as usual. I have some press cuttings of letters sent by Luther typed up, let me know if they would be of any interest to you.
