My grandfather Thomas Henry Davies, Blaengarw & Llangeinor was one time conductor of the Western Welsh Omnibus Company Male Voice Choir. I have an original program from the 1950s when the choir performed in Porthcawl together with the Midland Red Omnibus Company Orchestra. My grandfather and his brother William John were said briefly in the Glamorgan Gazette in 1916 to have been connected with the "Pontycymmer" and the "Town Bands"
My grandmother Hannah Davies nee Llewellyn was a member of the Garw Ladies Choral Soc, and both grandpartents were involved with the 1st Childrens Choir.
I have a list of conductors from the Garw Chapels and other groups which I hope to make available together with a brief account on the History of Music in the Garw.
Apart from Daniel James & Thomas Bedford Richards there must be other Garw connections with music outside of the Valley. I believe Alun John used to visit my grandfather but who is Mr John?
